You Light Up My Life – Taper Candlesticks

Well, what started as a couple of weeks’ blog break in December turned into nearly a full month. We completed the second full-court press on Gavin’s college applications, followed by time with family over the holiday break, and then we were hit by covid on New Year’s Eve when I was diagnosed as positive followed by my husband, father-in-law, and youngest son, Gavin. Never one to be left out the dog participated by getting an interdigital cyst on his foot and pink eye.

Great news on all fronts as Gavin was admitted to his first-choice school, the University of Chicago, we have all finally tested negative for Covid, and small pharmacy later the dog is on the mend also.

With the holiday decorations put away, the house always feels clean and fresh, but often like something small should be added. To that end, I bought a beautiful bowl with orchids at Home Depot for $35 which would have been over $100 at my local nursery, and became obsessed with taper candle holders.

I have previously shared my love of battery powered lights that come on to help with function (i.e. dark stars) and the small tea lights with timers in my Christmas village that turn on one by one around 5pm based on the time it took me to turn them on the first time.

After searching around, here is the one that I landed on – as I type this I am debating which additional one to purchase because I still have 2 candles. I tried to take some nighttime pictures but they were terrible. I love how this is in the window and can be seen from the outside. Here is the link to the battery-powered candles (also available by clicking image below) that are so magically amazing!

Taper candle holders and battery-powered candles are the perfect solution for adding a little something new and keeping the magic of the evening candlelight going. I have also added a few Valentine’s holiday décor touches that I will share shortly. If you are looking to add a little something new, I recommend you check out some of my favorite candle holders below – just click on the image for re-direct!

Here’s hoping that 2022 will be a fantastic year for everyone!
