After adding the Valentines décor touches that I shared HERE, I knew that I wanted to add something to the front door. The entry is a great area to add these small touches without cluttering the whole house. Most of the options that I found were either very expensive or super tacky like the door wreaths below.

I liked idea of the XO door wreath, just not the execution, so decided that DIY was the way to go. I am not the most talented DIYer so anything I DIY needs to be 1. no fail easy, 2. fun to create, and 3. inexpensive in case it all ends up in the trash despite the no fail easy part. I am so happy with how this turned out for about $30 and 30 minutes (excluding drying time) andso I am sharing the resources and very easy instructions below so you can recreate.
Materials:
- X letter
- Wreath
- Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun or other glue source
- Craft Paint
- Hook for door

Process
- Paint the X a color that you like – I used red and white to create a raspberry shade but you could do red, white, black, etc. It helped to paint the wreath on top of a box so that I could paint the sides which took a few coats since they were dark and did not take the paint as well as the front and back.
- Use hot glue to connect the ribbon to the back of the X to hang it from the top – I measured and glued the ribbon at the mid-point
- Wrap the ribbon around the wreath frame and glue the ends to the back of the X
- Hang the wreath on the door – it’s that simple!

After this experience, I have decided to create at least 1 DIY project for every holiday this year. And by every holiday, I mean every holiday, because I enjoy making small changes to my home that make it feel alive and give us reasons to have small celebrations in what has been a year with so many challenges.
