Trees that wear clothes – Tree Skirts

It’s almost time to put up the holiday piece de resistance, the Christmas Tree. We usually get ours Thanksgiving weekend and are looking forward to going in person to pick it out this year. Last year, our first in California, we joked that we got the Washington tree rejects because our tree never drank any water and was dry as a bone within a few weeks. Luckily, it still looked good, in a very preserved kind of way, but it never had any scent. Not to worry, I solved that by hanging way too many, according to my family, tree-scented sticks in the tree and was told to scale it back.

One great way to freshen up your Christmas tree is to add a new tree skirt. I was surprised at the number of tree skirts in the $200+ range and cannot imagine splurging quite that much so I picked out a bunch of great options below starting at $20 and ranging to just over $100.

Be sure to consider the size of your tree when picking a tree skirt. Trees 7.5′ and higher generally need a 56″ skirt, 7.5′ Christmas tree 48″ works, and 4.5′-6.5′ trees can use 42″. I generally like a larger tree skirt so don’t be afraid to size up. Another option, if your tree is in a tight space or you just like the look is a tree collar.

I bought the pom pom felt skirt from West Elm last year and love the subtle detail. All of the tree skirts at West Elm are on a great sale right now and you really can’t go wrong there. In addition to felt, furry tree skirts are also very popular. I have included a few options below so that you are sure to find one in the size that you need. I think that my favorite this year is probably the first one in rich green which is a West Elm tree skirt that comes in a few colors. I am also in love with the Arhaus sherpa one next to the striped Merry Christmas skirt (also very cute) and was very surprised at the price in a good way.

My oldest son is visiting and we are going to have an early Thanksgiving sometime in the next week so I am holding out on Christmas decorations until after that. I am enjoying the pared-down Thanksgiving decor and giving us and our home a chance to breathe before Christmas takes over.
