I like my candles like my people, non-toxic

Even when your house is a mess, a great smelling candle can often help you forget. It is going to take more than a Yankee or off the shelf candle though. Trust me, there is a major difference when you find a good one. Salt City Candles from Utah were my favorite and my dear mom was my supplier schlepping them to Seattle every time she visited since they did not offer shipping.

When Salt City Candles went out of business a couple years ago, I was worried but then I found an even better replacement – Pure Integrity Soy Candles. Guys, these candles are soooo good and it is a small family-owned business which is another positive.

Pure Integrity Cancels are strong scented top to bottom, burn clean, and long-lasting. They are made in the USA with 100% natural soy wax and will not leave black soot that you get from paraffin wax cancels which are made from a by-product generated when refining oil into gas which generates unhealthy toxins when burned.

Boring, but important stuff over, let’s get to the fun stuff – the scents. I recommend starting on the page that groups the candles by collection: Aromatherapy, Christmas, Classic, Floral, Fresh and Clean, Hot out of the Oven, Luscious Fruit, Serene Outdoor, and Warm Spice.

My favorite category is Hot out of the Oven and specifically, Comforts of Home or Oatmeal Cookie for every day and then some variety of pumpkin or nutmeg for October and November and then Victorian Christmas for December. I avoid florals but have not tried any so that this just a personal preference. Bestsellers are a great place to start, grab whatever sounds great to you – I doubt there is a bad one. These are just a few of my favorites from the Hot out of the oven collection.

To get the most bang for your buck, I recommend the 16oz jar candle which burns for approximately 75-85 hours and costs $19.99. I also recommend that you check out any specials as they are currently offering 20% off Pumpkin Pecan Waffle and Nutmeg Soy which are both fantastic. I also purchase 5 at a time as they offer free shipping on orders over $100 and they make great gifts.

While the candle jar is pretty (no pesky labels), I love to keep my candles in a great candle holder. Here are a few recommendations on candle holders that I love. In general, anything that will fit a 4” candle should work.

Treat yourself to a candle or five, your whole family will enjoy them! If you order, let me know what your favorites are.
