Large art is something that I ended up with by accident and I am loving it! When we put the offer in on the one that got away, we also purchased some of the large artwork from the entry, stairway, and master bedroom. Thankfully, the house that we ended up buying had a similar modern vibe so the non-refundable artwork pieces have all found great homes. Below is a picture of my entry as staged and with my art – while my picture quality is not great, the art definitely adds some interest.

I still love a good gallery wall or limited edition which I generally reserve for the more personal spaces of the home such as the family room or bedrooms. Large art looks great in more formal spaces such as the living room, dining room, and especially the entry foyer.
There are many styles of art including modern, pop, PhotoRealism but the style of art that I think translates the best across all home designs is abstract. Abstract art is art that does not attempt to be a visual reality but rather uses shapes, colors, and forms to achieve its effect. As a result, it is a great way to add color and texture and mood to most design styles without being too specific.
Some great sources for reasonably-priced large art are Minted, Wayfair, and Etsy. Below are some of my favorites from each but art is a very subjective thing so definitely go explore a bit on your own! If you see something you like below, just click the image for more details!
Minted
Minted is great for limited-run pieces that are on-trend, easy to customize (frame, no frame) depending on desired style and cost, and free shipping!
Wayfair
Wayfair has the biggest selection with many art pairs that work well in bedrooms either on large walls, behind nightstands, or both. Less curated than Minted and mass-produced but many of them catch my eye and I am not personally concerned with the number of copies in existence if it speaks to me.
Etsy
Supports artists from around the world and available in very, very large sizes. Generally one of the most expensive but you can purchase unstretched canvas and take it to your local framing store to have it stretched onto a frame (generally $150 – 200 for very large pieces) either with or without a frame. So many options available it can be a bit overwhelming.
Did anything here catch your eye? Are you already looking around your house to see where large art would work? Maybe you could drop a hint for Christmas.
