Help I Wrecked My House – Must See HGTV

You are missing out if you are not watching Jasmine Roth on Help ! I Wrecked My House Season 2. I have been watching Jasmine for a few years now – 2 seasons on Hidden Potential where she transformed cookie-cutter homes into custom dream homes, she won Season 1 of Rock the Block (the kitchen she designed below was incredible), and now she is on Season 2 of Help! I Wrecked My House where she comes to the rescue of do-it-yourselfers who have stretched themselves too thin.

Jasmine’s style is laid-back California chic which makes sense since she is my neighbor to the north in Huntington Beach. Her style really translates to most houses except maybe the ultra traditional. Here is a link to her profile on HGTV if you want to know more and you should definitely follow her on Instagram if you are a design stalker like me or just like pictures and videos of adorable kiddos as her baby Hazel is about as cute as they come except for mine of course. She also has a design book called House Story that is shipping in mid-Oct that I have had on pre-order for months!

Ok, let’s get to the design – all pictures below credited to Jasmine Roth and HGTV. On Episode 3 of Help! I Wrecked My House, Jasmine encountered something she had never seen before – someone who thought they could pour a foundation and build an addition without any construction experience using just the internet.

Three years into the renovations, the couple had had enough. In fairness, they did a nice renovation of their kitchen and main bathroom at that time. With a $75,000 budget to finish the primary bedroom/bath and nursery, Jasmine really had her work cut out for her. This is the design inspiration board that she created with a modern luxury theme. You can tell just from this that it is going to be AMAZING!

Drum roll….check out the before and after shots of the primary bedroom and bathroom. One amazing thing that Jasmine does is to share sourcebooks for her renovations that include links to the products that are quite assessable with many coming from places such as Overstock, Wayfair, and even Ikea for the curtains from the last episode. The sources for this episode are available HERE – and she includes everything from the accessories to the shower hardware.

The bedroom feature wall with the $700 custom headboard that Jasmine made really makes the room. The curtains (from IKEA!) do a great job of grounding the space. Jasmine suggested the barn doors for the bathroom and managed to add them in a very modern way. The only thing I would change is the brown blind on the back window which would look better in a neutral color similar to the wall to blend in because that wall texture is SPECTACULAR!

I love the way that Jasmine used the large format porcelain tile that make the shower look like it is solid slab which would have been waaaay outside the budget. The vanity is not my favorite because I think it looks a bit cheap, even though it was not, and a bit small for two people.

Through some type of crazy voodoo magic Jasmine even managed to build a custom built-in closet using IKEA parts for $2,500. The genius was painting it all a dark gray color which made it look at least 5x more expensive than it was. Of course, I do not think that they count labor into the cost estimates so that definitely helped as well.

Jasmine also designed a nursery as the couple emphasize a few times that the home renovation is the only thing standing in their way of growing their family. How amazing is this? The bassinet is from Target and the beautiful blue-gray dresser is from IKEA – seriously, no words for such great style on a budget.

The good news if you have not been watching Jasmine is that you have a bunch of past episodes that you can go catch up on. If you have been watching, I am sure that you are like me and anxiously waiting for the next episode or busy shopping from her resource guides.

If you want to check out some of my thoughts on Rock the Block Season 2 – check out these posts – Rock the Block is also “Must See HGTV!”
