It’s here, my dining table and chairs that I ordered last June – and by last June I mean June 2020! It actually arrived a couple of weeks ago which was good timing because it meant that I could seat 8 for my 4th of July BBQ and more importantly my (and my mother-in-law’s) birthday on July 6! I wavered a few times and tried to get my husband on board with a different table, but I admit it was worth the wait.
Of course, there was some tweaking that needed to happen. We originally purchased an ivory rug in June 2020 which looked like the one in the marketing picture (above) that we liked. The reality is that in my house with the light floors it looked very washed out. The other reality is that the only picture I took with the old rug was a mess – real life, what can you do!
So, after a quick rug swap which helps to tie in the amazing CB2 table runner and the light that was recently installed this room is complete! Below are links to the table, rug and light (just click image) but I cannot promise that you will not be waiting an extreme amount of time if you decide to order the table.

In fairness, most furniture is VERY backordered right now and if you want to update your dining table for Thanksgiving, you may already be too late if you have not placed your order yet.
A few things that you want to keep in mind when shopping dining tables:
- Table Height – Standard height tables are about 30” high and are meant to be used with 18-23” chairs.
- Chair height – If you are mixing and matching, make sure that there is 10-12” of spacing between the chair seat and the bottom of the table.
- Width – standard width is 48” to allow room for dining and food on the table however, a 30” wide table will work if you have a sideboard where you will be placing food.
- Length – Each guest should have 24-26” or horizontal space. Ideally you would have 36” of space at the end of the table as well. Mine is a bit cozy with the leaf in but we wanted to be able to seat 8 so are making it work.
- Rug – the rug should be wide and long enough that the chairs remain on the rug when tucked into the table and ideally when pushed out to sit.
Here are a few different tables, some of which were on my backup list, for your enjoyment! Fair warning that most are in the 2-4k price range so if you want to mix and match and need to save some money on the chairs check out the post HERE that has some great Cost Plus World Market dining chairs.
