I am working on a kids bedroom for a client and have been on the hunt for a fun, but not gimmicky bed. What is gimmicky you ask – see below. The goal here is to create a room that both the kids and and the parents like.
In addition to being stylish, budget is also an important factor as this is generally a bed that is going to take your child from a crib to a pre-teen so you definitely are not looking for an investment or heirloom here. In general, most of these beds in the $300ish price range.
Here are some of my favorite finds divided into the following categories: basic, fun, and stylish. Of course, my favorite category is the stylish group and that is where the bed that we will be using in my client’s daughter’s room is.
Basic kids beds
These work well when you have other elements in the room that are taking center stage (i.e. wallpaper, paint treatment, colorful rug) or maybe a fairly small room and you need the bed to blend into the background.
Fun Beds
These are the beds that you kids will be most likely to choose and provide a nice alternative to the gimmicky beds above. They have a bit of whimsy that kids will love without crossing the line. Soem of these beds come in different finishes so click away if you want to see the options. Also, I promise that I was not looking for house beds.
Stylish Beds
These beds have a bit of flair and work well with a more sophistical design. Most of the fabric beds are available in multiple color options which is great depending on whether you are designing for a girl, boy or just optimizing around a favorite color.
Do you have a kid ready to move from the crib into a bid-kid bed? I would love to help you design a room that brings them joy and lots of sweet dreams.
