White Vase as the Little Black Dress

A white ceramic vase really is like a little black dress for your house. You can dress her up or leave her naked and she will still make a statement. I like to keep mine on the entry console table but they are also great on shelves and dressers. I usually keep faux greens in her but also change them out for seasonal décor with the latest addition being these amazing pink pincushion flowers that I got from JOANNs.

This vase was one of the first purchases I made after we decided to move to California. At the time, I did not know what style our house would be as the real estate here is so varied and most homes we looked at were Mediterranaen style.

I knew that no matter what, this gal would fit in somehow, somewhere and turns out, she is center stage on my entry console. Here are some  of her with some seasonal accents and I have lots of future plans for every holiday (St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, etc) as I am decorating for all of them this year!

Here are some criteria to keep in mind when looking for a versatile white vase.

Color – I like white as allows you to add different foliage without having to question whether it will work.

Material – Ceramic is classic and can make herself at home in any house unlike say a terracotta or metal vase.

Size — I like a taller vase that is at least 15” tall so that you can use beautiful tall branches without overwhelming the vase.

Cost — You can go crazy here but no need as most are below $100 with lots in the $50 price range.

Here are some favorites as well as mine that I bought at Crate and Barrel and really love!
