Pantone has announced their colors of the year and it is Ultimate Gray and Illuminating which is a very bright shade of yellow. They share that these colors express an optimistic mood for 2021 with yellow expressing happiness and grey providing a solid and dependable feeling of resilience. The Pantone color of the year is shared to influence fashion, home furnishings and industrial design. While I can get behind these moods for 2021, bright yellow is just not a color that you will ever see in my house.
Benjamin Moore has selected Argean Teal 2136-40 as their color of the year. This color has a beautiful blend of blue and green with a touch of grey that I can definitely get behind for home design. The color has the ability to blend easily with many other hues as an organic color reflective of nature and it can be used provide a pop of color without being overwhelming or overshadowing everything as Illuminating yellow could.
Argean Teal is a great color for use on something as permanent as cabinetry and is also great as an accent color on a single piece of furniture, rug or a few accessories. My current color pallet is black and white and I am thinking a pop of teal might be a nice pick me up for the new year. Below are a few inspirational photos and some teal options for you sorted from most to least expensive – just click for more details.
What do you think of teal? I think the tray, a few pillows, and a vase would be great in my family room – it is good to introduce at least 2 items when adding a color. Is there a new color that you are looking to introduce to your home or wardrobe? Your wardrobe is a great place to look to see what colors you gravitate to – no surprises mine is nearly all grey and blue jeans.
