Teen Boy’s Room – Eat, Sleep, Study, Repeat

Teen boys need space that is their own corner of the world where they can retreat to sleep (they do a lot of this), study (a lot of this also), chill out, and escape from it all. At a high level, the room should include a bed, chair, desk, and dresser.

A few tips/tricks:

  • Drawers or cubbies can be placed in the bottom of the closet to save space
  • Splurge on a good mattress but save on bed frame and desk – lots of lower-priced but quality items to choose from here.
  • Add personal touches based on their hobbies and interests such as sports memorability and artwork. eBay is a great place to find unique and personal items.
  • Involve your son in the process, you might be surprised by some of the requests. My oldest kept his twin bed until he moved out so he had more space to kick a soccer ball. My youngest is so happy to have moved up from full to queen bed because he shares with a bed hog French Bulldog.
  • Earn cool points by including LED lights (more on installing those later – great Mother/Son teambuilding event) which are fun and surprisingly effective for creating good study lighting.

I hope these mood boards are helpful as inspiration as there are so many great options for teen boys. Some of my favorite shopping resources for boys’ rooms are Wayfair, Bed Bath, and Beyond as well as eBay for items used to personalize the space.
